Na'Kiima Le'Asia Reid
Na’Kiima is the author of Ancestral Echoes: Poems of Spirit and Resistance. She is a Cincinnati, Ohio native who attended the arts school, The School for the Creative and Performing Arts, as a vocal, creative writing, and drama major, and has been an avid poetry and short story writer since her childhood-and was even published several times within the school's yearly, Spotlight, magazine. She attended the University of Cincinnati for undergrad, has lived in Beijing, China where she taught English, and attended law school at Roehampton University in London, United Kingdom.
The present collection of poems were written by Na'Kiima during her travels abroad to the United Kingdom while studying law, through her experience of sexual assault, the loss of her stepfather to police brutality, Samuel DuBose, and her healing process through it all as she reconnected to herself, her ancestors, and the collective.
